Why are save opps -2 in points? If that's the case you're punishing someone for being a RP, but awarding points for saves and holds> Do you mean a blown save?
SVO—Save Opportunity: When a pitcher 1) enters the game with a lead of three or fewer runs and pitches at least one inning, 2) enters the game with the potential tying run on base, at bat, or on deck, or 3) pitches three or more innings with a lead and is credited with a save by the official scorer
A little clarification would be nice

It is the same idea as losing a point for a FG attempt in basketball. The RP is risking points. Hlds and saves are worth a lot of points so this moderates them a bit. The RP gets credit for recording outs, strikeouts, wins, holds and saves etc. This measure is it ensure the RPs are not then overvalued. Why are save opps -2 in points? I think blown save would be like a missed FG attempt. A save opportunity shouldn't be penalized a blown save should.
So if Brian Wilson comes in for a save opportunity he will lose points, regardless if he gets the save.

What about a blown hold?

I would love to see some of your ideas. Do you want to be more roto-based or do you like h2h? h2h really works best for football.

I dont think ESPN has a blown hold option, actually I think if you blow a hold it is a blown save, isn't it. I could be wrong

A blown hold is not considered a blown save. ESPN does not have this option which was why I thought to do the negative for appearances. By getting outs the pitcher will more than make up for their batter penalty. Its like risking points and in that way is similar to a shot in NBA. If it misses it hurts your FG%, but if you make it you get help in a couple ways.

I actually ran a roto league for football a few years back, it worked out okay..but I did have to figure the final results manually. Neither Yahoo or Espn could handle that but fleaflicker was able to get me the stats in a format that made final scoring easy for me.

I do not want roto. ESPN has better set-up than yahoo or fleaflicker (w/e that is)

that is fine..I prefer non roto for football as well. I agree ESPN is nicer than the other two. I hate yahoo. Fleaflicker has better customer service, but if the scoring and set up is normal enough for ESPN (this is) that is the better choice.

We will use ESPN. Football will not be roto even though I am sure it is possible.
Do you want h2h or roto for baseball and basketball?

Football (H2H Points) Baseball (H2H Each Cat) Basketball (H2H Points) Football I think can only be one scoring type. In baseball its hard to make pitchers and hitters dead even, which is why H2H Each Cat makes better for baseball. It also allows for better divisional matchups. I would rather do H2H Points for basketball and hockey.

I'm fine with the scoring setup that Denver suggested.

It might be nice to keep it streamlined in h2h points. Points allows up to take more things that players do into account. In creating this baseball scoring system I have tried to balance hitting and pitching. I tested in on real life box scores to ensure this.
Baseball Scoring
Batting Singles (1B) = 1 Doubles (2B) = 2 Triples (3B) = 3 Home Runs (HR) = 4 Walks (BB) = 1 Runs Scored (R) = 1 Runs Batted In (RBI) = 1 Stolen Bases (SB) = 3 Strikeouts (K) = -1 Caught Stealing (CS) = -1
Pitching Innings Pitched (IP) = 3 Earned Runs (ER) = -2 Wins (W) = 10 Losses (L) = -3 Saves (SV) = 5 Strikeouts (K) = 1 Hits Allowed (H) = -1 Walks Issued (BB) = -1 Holds (HD) = 2 Save Opportunities (SOP) = -2

I assume that the scoring period will be one week, correct?

Correct.
And just to touch on the above conversation: A pitcher lost points for a SOP but gained them for Ks, Svs, Wins, and IP (innings pitched).
